ImpactNexus Partners With SDG Investments And The Borderstep Institute In Research Project

Funded with a grant from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, the Score4Impact project enables capital providers, startup support organizations and startups to make a climate and sustainability assessment that can serve as a basis for investment decisions. The project is implemented in cooperation with the research institute Borderstep Institute for Innovation and Sustainability and SDG Investments GmbH.

The aim of the project is to make start-ups and their climate protection and sustainability potential more visible. The potential will be calculated more reliable and cost-effective than current approaches with the help of machine learning approaches. To achieve this, powerful data mining and evaluation methods are being developed that combine modern data processing with the expertise of specialists. This enables Score4Impact to develop web-based assessment services specifically suited for investors, start-up promoters and startups. Here, the focus is on time- and cost-efficient as well as assessment of climate protection and sustainability potentials of innovative startups.

Specifically, two different web-based tools will be developed:

• A tool for quick screening of the climate protection and sustainability potentials of innovative start-ups
• A tool to perform a detailed assessment of climate protection and sustainability potentials of innovative start-ups (including suggestions for improvement and comparisons of different sectors).

The project will run from 01.07.2021 to 30.06.2024. Interim results will be published continuously on the websites of the collaborative partners. The first tools for application should be publicly available at the beginning of 2023.
